For all students, I like to start off my lessons by first establishing the overall level that a student can play at. This consists of their fundamentals, such as fingerings, scales, sight reading, etc. Following this, I will use the information that I have gathered to establish what book or literature I would like to use for my teaching. I will not make anybody pau for any copies of books, I will find these copies entirely on my own and send you electronic pdf copies of them for your use. If a student has any literature or fundamentals book that they would like to use, I would be more than happy to implement it into my teaching.
I strongly believe that students should be corrected and made aware of their mistakes when learning music or a new instrument, but I also believe that these corrections and criticisms can be delivered in ways that push students to better themselves, rather than make them doubt their abilities as a musician. I want to see all of my students believe, and thus I will give them all of the encouragement that they need to become the musician I think they can be, and I will make sure that they know that they are fantastic musicians.
