Overview:
I'm a professional, motivated and passionate drum instructor who loves handing down my knowledge and experience of drums as a graduate of Musicians Institute and a live performing, touring musician. In 2009, I graduated from Musicians Institute of Hollywood, CA with an Associates of Arts in Drums/Performance. So far, I have been halfway around the world performing live, and am always learning proper drum etiquette and positivity as a professional along the way. I have had the opportunity to headline the Winter Gardens in Blackpool UK, as well as touring the UK, Europe, the East and West coasts of the US, Australia and New Zealand as the official drummer of infamous Pop/Punk band The Dickies.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates back to the year I graduated from Musicians Institute. One of my teachers offered his name as a reference to begin employment at M.I. as a T.A. As exciting as that sounded to me, I really felt it was time to spread my new knowledge away from Hollywood, and begin teaching where I live; in the Inland Empire. That same year, I began teaching drums within the Chino, Chino Hills, Ontario and Pomona school districts, as well as private lessons. I always like to bring a student's assignment/exercise into musical context. That way, the student always knows why they are being challenged with the assignment, and that it pertains to music that is being made in the real music world. It always has to be fun, and contain a level of challenge, to keep the students mind growing, along with their overall growing ability to learn another language; music!
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are young, I usually start with just a snare drum. Learning stick holding and striking technique, and then move onto adding pieces of the drumset to play on. From there, I go onto introducing learning note values, and drum music reading. For adults, I may start the same way, but also discuss what they would like to focus on. I really like to imply the fundamentals of contemporary music, and what is typically used on well known recordings. I also like to discuss the positive attitude that is crucial to being a smarter, sharper and respectful musician.
LESSON STYLE
I really feel it's important to contribute in the efforts of raising a smarter generation of children, and also understand adult's needs and passions to pursue the art of music. I find so much joy and excitement in witnessing a student's progression, or that moment when they’ve been struggling with a rhythm or assignment, and it finally "clicks", and you witness it come together right in front of you. I love that! Learning music at a young age also tends to help students do better in school because of their efforts in understanding the language of music, expanding their learning abilities even further than the average student. To me, that is the most important aspect of learning the drums.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
