Music is my greatest passion. I've been playing instrument for 20 years and teaching music for about 3 years now. I started out on guitar and drums, and I soon found out the importance of the piano. I have taught music in many situations. Most of my teaching experience is for a private school called excel music in Tampa and another called tampa music school. I filled in as the band director, chorus director, and guitar instructor for a high school for half of the school year. I was also the lead drum instructor for a program that brings arts to children with autism called Out Of Zion. I have a bachelors degree in fine arts and experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels. Also, I teach a fun and engaging curriculum.
My teaching career started at an alternative school teaching arts and crafts. I then began tutoring and teaching home lessons, until I got an opportunity to work for two great private music schools. Excel music in Tampa and Tampa Music School. I created and taught dozens of lessons a week 2-3 years on guitar, ukulele, piano, bass guitar, and drums. I had many students of all ages and skill level. I also had a couple special needs students at excel. I then had the chance to cover as the lead music director at a collegiate high school and, teaching band, chorus, and guitar. During the summer of 2018 and 2019. I volunteered as the lead drum instructor in a program called Out of Zion, an arts program for children with autism.
After finding out the skill level and goals that the student has, we can get to know the instrument that we are learning more in depth. We learn the anatomy of the instrument and how to hold and play it. We will then take on learning how to play the instrument comfortably along with me, along with recorded tracks, and along with other musicians. We will strive for the goal to learn how to read music or tablature related to the instrument. We will also learn what is needed to improvise and write music using the instrument. The goal is overall comfort with your instrument.
I have unlimited patience and can see when a student isn’t into the course. There is no stupid question and I encourage the student to get what they want out of the class. If there is a song that you want to learn, then we will analyze that song. The overall goal is to have fun with music and the instrument that we are learning. There is no pressure to pass a test or to meet any standards. The only goal the student is responsible for meeting is the goal they set for themselves. Also Disney songs are gonna make an appearance.
