Music has been the most important part of my life since day one. I am enthusiastic about sharing and instilling this same love of music in the next generation of musicians. As a performer with over 10 years of experience in a variety of genres, the most important thing I’ve learned is there is no one path or right way to be a musician. My studies and performances have led me all over the world; from India to china, Spain, and all across the United States. I specialize in early sacred music and new music, and I am inspired by the singer songwriters of the 60s and 70s, as well as contemporary musicians. I currently live in Los Angeles where I have a vibrant and diverse performance schedule singing with professional choirs and as a backup musician for incredible artists.
With over 10 years of performance experience and 8 years of formal training, I am excited to be able to share everything I’ve learned with younger or less experienced singers and players. I have taught both children and adults beginner piano and singing basics. My own education and recent experiences as a professional have inspired me to take on more students. Music making is incredibly transformative for those who are bold enough to pursue it. My job is to give you the tools to sing, play, and create in the way you want! Let’s get creative and see where your individual talent can lead you. There’s no doubt it will be incredible!
In singing, breath is the basis of all sound. We will work on developing a healthy support system and gaining stamina, dynamic range, and technical function that will allow your very unique instrument to flourish and thrive. I will help guide you towards repertoire that will help expand your knowledge of how your instrument works and inspire you to keep exploring and learning. Much will be guided by your goals as a musician. For beginning piano students, I teach from the Hal Leonard series. As skills develop, we will be able to work on both reading and aural skills, helping to make you a versatile musician for any style of music making.
As I refine my own skills as a singer through performance experiences, I am eager to pass along the knowledge I have learned to the next generation of students and enthusiastic amateurs. Music is meant to be shared and I cannot wait to give you the tools to unlock your creative potential. As students develop, I hope to inspire a deep appreciation for all types of music through creative repertoire choices and varied ways of thinking about music. As we work toward your goals, there is so much to be discovered along the way.
