For as long as I can remember, music has played a large part in my life. By the age ten, I already knew that music would be more than just a hobby for me, it would become my career. I have been singing and playing piano for over 25 years. I received a BS in music industry studies with an emphasis on business, from the University of Colorado Denver in 2008. I have extensive experience in performance and the music industry as a business, and have had the pleasure of experiencing the local music scene first hand while playing in bands. My years of experience enables my students to learn different aspects of music from the fundamentals, to writing, and even the music industry as a business. Students should expect to quickly grasp the basic skills such as proper breathing and posture, and will start singing or playing right away. I truly enjoy sharing my love of music and the industry with my students.
I began teaching voice as a school project when I was 14 years old and realized that I I loved it! From then on, I always kept my hand in teaching throughout my high school and college years. I started teaching full time, at which point I added piano and speaking to my repertoire. I have experience as a performing singer, session musician and actor and I I love helping my students get the most out their lessons, whether they simply want to learn their instrument to the best of their ability, or learn more about writing music and the industry.
Voice: In voice lessons we do not use books which allows me to fully customize lessons to the individual students needs and wants. I teach different methods of breathing, including low costal breathing and we focus on posture, sound placement, among many other fun skills. Speaking: Speaking lessons are also highly customized, as speakers could be anyone from film or stage actors, to voice over artists, to public speakers and beyond. We focus on breathing, posture and vocal placement, among many other skills. Piano: I use the Alfred series of books. We will chose the best book within the series based on the students age and current abilities.
Music lessons should be fun but educational. I want to know what your goals are and what you would like to get out of your lessons. Each lesson will be tailored to your specific goals and situation, so that you can get the most out of our time together. Whether music is a hobby, a career path, or something in between, you can expect to learn what interests you most. We can focus strictly on your instrument, or even go beyond and talk about song writing, or the music industry. With my speakers, we will focus our lessons depending on their discipline.
