Overview:
I am an experienced musician. I have taught many students with a variety of different music styles. I utilize my skills as a musician and a counselor to best meeting my students needs. My goals is to help them to reach their desired goals. Each session is tailored to meet my students needs and will include things that they are eager to learn as well as the tools and techniques that I have learned to teach them. I make lessons fun, but also structured instilling an important tool as a musician which is discipline. My students can expect to increase their confidence, their tone, intonation, music education, extend their range, improvise, as well as transpose songs to fit their style of voice. I’m excited to create beautiful and lasting memories though the art of music and look forward to meeting and teaching you or your child!
EXPERIENCE
I have taught private lessons for years and while in college I served in a 82 plus concert collegiate choir as the President, Vice President, Soprano Section leader and assistant Section leader. I am classically trained, as well as have experience in singing different languages. As a music therapist I have had the opportunity to utilize music to help other address non musical goals increasing their overall quality of life. I have advance training in voice, and intermediate training in piano and guitar playing. I love music to no end anda always expanding on my growth as a musician.
METHODS USED
Growing up I’ve had a variety of coaches, one thing I noticed is that I was always lost enameled by the teachers that nurtured my creativity. Many times there are music teachers that only teach what they like and what they know. My students can expect to expand their versatility but as a smaller portion of the overall focus. My methods and practice is very student centered. It is my job whether the student is aware of what they want to learn to find out what they are most passionate about and nurture that to grow. The exercises I create and implement will all help my students towards that goal.
LESSON STYLE
I encourage my students to have notebooks, recorders, and to learn basic accompaniment via keyboard or guitar. This will help them to expand on their practices at home and feel empowered to create music on their own. I like to keep track of my students accomplishments and enjoy encouraging them along their musical journey. Each student comes with their own unique abilities, talents and training and I believe it is my duty to meet my students where they are at and gradually bring them towards where they desire to be and where I also see their greatest potential.
