I am a very motivated instructor that values discipline and hard work from his students, during this pandemic I will be teaching online classes for a lower price than usual in this platform and hope that many of you want to learn a new instrument or the language of music. I am very excited to start teaching you and see where you are at so that we can get better every day. I am also very interested in experimentation with instruments and have several projects dedicated to this subject as well, one of them is Kapeh music on IGTV and we expect to launch more to that series as time progresses during this quarantine, I will add some links to this page about those projects and more cello and bass teams music
My teaching career started while studying abroad in Guadalajara Mexico, I taught Solfege and helped the chorus out in Hermilo Hernandez institute of music, then went on to teach private lessons to beginner cello students there as well. when I came back to El Paso Tx, I joined the ASTA Group and we helped lower-income students by providing after school classes for no charge. I also helped other college students from different instruments get their hold on strings for pedagogy class as well.
Generally, we start with a quick assessment of where you are in the instrument, what pieces you can play and want to and/or need to get to play someday, I use a regimen of Cello " workouts" that will focus on improving overall and focus on areas we need to work the most on, each student is different and responds differently to different methods, though there are several etude books I use ( like Feullard's 60 daily exercises or poppers Highschool of cello, as well as some of Dotsauers 113 Studies ) which would also depend on our starting point.
We do everything we can as teachers to help you build the tools for you to succeed on your own, therefore we succeed when you can get through the piece without too much input from us. and when we can hear a consistent sound from you. at this point, we aren't doing much, and it is you that accomplishes this, I will as you progress across a new piece, excerpt, or study. we will set goals that we know we can meet together, and hope that you will set up practice time aside to help get there. .
