Studied under guitarist Paul Moeller at the Maryland Conservatory of Music
2016 Maryland Music Award Winner -Best Electronic Artist (with ELM) 2014- present: Touring nationally with Electric Love Machine
I am an enthusiastic young teacher who takes great pride in watching my students achieve their musical goals. I have been playing music since I was a child, with 15 years experience on the bass guitar alone. I have been touring regionally and nationally with my main project, Electric Love Machine, since 2014 and recently won the 2016 Maryland Music Award for Best Electronic Artist. Traveling around the country has taught me many things about musical diversity and has added many more influences to my personal repertoire.
Upon graduating from high school, I started teaching bass lessons when possible and quickly fell in love with teaching. I specialize in taking a practical approach to teaching, where there is more emphasis on the instrument as it tends to keep students interested and motivated through the difficult early stages. I personally invest myself into each student and strive to help them reach their own personal musical goals. It is important to have mutual trust and friendship in the teaching process and I believe I do a very good job at making students comfortable in a healthy learning environment. The only limit to your musical growth is the work you put in, and I will be there every step of the way on your journey!
I believe in treating music as a language: when learning language, you are never chastised for struggling with words, but are actually encouraged to practice and communicate with everyone possible. I try to make a custom curriculum for each individual student, but I usually cater to broader skill level groups. For beginners, I try to make the learning of fundamentals fun and engaging, while giving context to the things that interest them. For advanced players, I incorporate my own unique technical play style (Spanish style) and introduce techniques from some of the great players of the world.
I thoroughly enjoy seeing students progress, and the main ingredient in progression is practice! I try to make sessions memorable and keep the content engaging so that students can carry that with them throughout the week. I find if students aren't engaged in what the current task is, they will find it difficult to move forward and progress through their learning process. The main way I do this is by finding a tangible goal that a student can achieve week by week or month by month and having that be their motivation. This is why I find it so important to have a high level of trust between teacher and student so we can both move forward to where we want!
