Overview:
I'm always on the lookout for that new sound, melody or lyric that catches my attention in a song. It's my passion to help students discover their unique musicality. I've performed at weddings, select collegiate groups in symphonic and choral ensembles. We covered styles ranging from Baroque to Modern Jazz. Since then, I've experiemented with EDM and folk music. Songs like, "My Soul, A River" highlights guitar, mandolin, and cello. Whereas a song like, "Field Guides to the Stars" uses electronic sounds. I'm happy to help bring out students' interests and proficiency.
EXPERIENCE
I had the experience of administrating a music program where students got to sit in a session with their favorite artists. We shared songs and would critique performances. It was a lot of fun and I carry that same energy into lessons! I bring portable studio equipment and encourage students to complete whole works. Taking from the full range of music through history can give students a large perspective to pull from when interpreting, writing or performing music. I also think it's important to understand that music comes from a place of wholeness and is an extension of a person's life.
METHODS USED
For children, we'll begin with aiding the discovery of musical instinct. For adults, I start by becoming familiar with what kind of music got them curious. By looking at all its parts we can begin learning the fundementals and getting to a point of confidence in a solo or ensemble setting. I recommend filming rehearsals to be able to self-critique at home. I also recommend critical listening to the music we're working on or any other music the student may be listening to. There are many details and subtle stylistic choices made by musicians to enhance the overall quality of sound.
LESSON STYLE
Music comes from a place of wholeness. My goal is to aid students in discovering their creative passion. It's important to bring that out and to go each persons' unique pace. I'm confident that students' will discover the potential for their sound and want to keep making music throughout life. I can assess where a student is and bring them to a stronger point. Once they see how all the fundementals come into place, they'll start to realize how possible it is for them to make music too. They'll be so happy to hear themselves start to make progress.
