Overview:

I am a piano/music teacher with an extensive experience of over 35 years. I have been trained as a concert pianist and teacher in Europe and USA, and graduated with Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia.  I have over 40 years’ experience as a concert pianist with orchestras solo recitals chamber music and accompaniment and my extensive training both as a pianist and teacher enables me to teach my students the piano music from Bach to the present.  In my teaching I focus on the student's needs, ability, talent, and personality and strive to develop his/her potential for excellence.  Also I emphasize the enjoyment of music and share the beautiful richness of the great music composed in different periods.

EXPERIENCE

I am a piano/music teacher with an extensive experience of over 35 years.  I have been teaching many students over the years in my studio, in their homes, at Temple University – 30 years, in many Music Schools and Conservatories.  My students are children 6 and older and adults of every age.  I am always tailoring my teaching according to the needs and potentials of my students.  I motivate my students and encourage them to practice consistently and play.  I try to convey to my students my love and passion for music and the piano in order for them to be inspired and love the music that they practice and play.  I encourage my students to play in the recitals I organize and enter competitions in order to achieve results as well as enjoyment.

METHODS USED

When I teach beginning students who are children, I start with the Bastien Piano Basics or Alfred Basic Piano.  This way, I make sure that my students learn and understand the fundamentals and basics of piano and music.  After they learn from several levels of these method books, I introduce easy pieces by classical composers from Easy Piano Classics by Bastien or Easy Piano Classics edited by Agay, followed by Sonatinas by Clementi, Kuhnau, Haydn, and Mozart.  From there I introduce gradually more difficult pieces from the classical, romantic and modern repertoire.  For adults and young adults I start with Alfred Adult Piano Basics and teach from the first and second method book.  After that I proceed in a similar way as I do with the very young students.  I try to understand each student’s personality and interest and make the lesson informative, inspiring and fun and add occasional popular and familiar popular pieces based on the desires of the student.

LESSON STYLE

As I mentioned before, I evaluate each student’s starting ability and talent and devise a starting point accordingly.  I strive to motivate and inspire each student so that they begin to love the music they play and understand it well.  I teach each student based on his/her ability and potential and see that they make progress at their own pace.  I encourage progress and results as well as enjoyment of practicing and playing music.  I emphasize techniques and every musical ingredient necessary to achieve a superior, artistic level of playing.
