During my 20 + year career as a professional musician, I have been fortunate enough to work as a music teacher for over 12 years at renowned music schools in Brazil and USA . I teach students from all levels. Amongst them, music producers, famous songwriters, well-known artists and top musicians. I’ve also worked with multiple major artists, top producers and Grammy Award-Winning musicians and have been on many tours. I am well versed in many different music styles. I am also a songwriter and sound engineer having produced, recorded and mixed music for TV and Radio as well as my debut album LET IT OUT. Therefore, I can attend to each one of your musical needs in a fast and accurate manner. I have an extensive knowledge of music theory as well as live and recording sets of skills and would be able to attend to the needs of students who are professional or aspiring musicians. Music is a universal language and I have passion and enthusiasm for all things music-related.
Began playing guitar at the age of 10 and for the following 7 years took private lessons with renowned music teachers in Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. At the age of 18, moved to Boston, to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music under the tutelage of a number of great musicians. Worked professionally while studying at Berklee as a session player and played at Guitar Night – a concert sponsored for its top 5 guitar players of the year. Shortly after moving back to Brazil, worked teaching guitar privately and at 2 different locations of music school Centro Musical Antonio Adolfo, composing/recording jingles and soundtracks for Radio/TV/Film and began playing gigs with local artists. A couple years later, started touring with major artists – many of them Grammy Nominees and/or Grammy Award winners, all over Brazil and South America. In late 2011, moved to New York City and soon began performing and recording with local artists and world renowned musicians in top-notch studios. On 2014, toured the US – on the Guitar Gods tour which featured artists such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Bumblefoot (ex-Guns ‘N Roses, Sons of Apollo) and Gary Hoey. A few years , started teaching music in the USA to private students and later at a School of Rock music school in New York. I currently play shows with artist Taylor Dayne. My debut album LET IT OUT was in the 1st round of voting (out of 2) for the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards in the Record of the Year category. I've always been exposed to various music styles and was fortunate to learn how to play them from a young age. I am well versed and able to teach in detail many different genres of music.
I have my own method of teaching music, based on a combination of methods from Berklee College of Music, music schools where I taught over the years and things I've learned on the road etc. My lessons are custom made to the specific needs of each student. But there are certain things I like to teach everyone regardless of music taste, such as theory, technique and songwriting. In my experience, those 3 areas of music teaching walk hand in hand. I couldn't count how many students I've seen that only learn songs and later on, forget them and don't almost any knowledge from what they played. If you understand what happens "behind the curtains" of the music you like, dissect it and learn how to make something similar; that knowledge becomes part of your vocabulary and helps shape your music identity. That's what I strive to do with every student. I try to have fun relaxed lessons. Sometimes a student doesn't have to time to practice for a variety of reasons - and that's ok. On those situations, I can always come up with a backup plan to help them make progress.
First I need to know the type of music a student likes. Then I access their level and put together a plan to make them progress by teaching them a combination of; - techniques they need to know and master - exercises to help develop those techniques - songs based on their level and music taste - theory to understand the songwriting style - songwriting exercises to develop their artist side I also recommend music and videos, talk about gear, road experience, and anything else music related a student might be interested in.
