BA-Music
I Am a mother of 5 children and have been teaching piano for over 30 years to all ages from 4-85. Music is my passion and I love children as well as adults who have been waiting their whole life to learn! I have lived in Fairfield county for over 10 years but originally from the Midwest. I started taking piano when I was 7 years old. For a while, I also played violin and organ but kept taking piano. I studied piano at the University of Missouri Conservatory of Music where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Piano was my major instrument but I also studied Voice and Piano Accompanying. I played piano for the University Choir as well as the Percussion Ensemble.

With Adults, I like to talk about styles and flavors of music they enjoy.
With children, I try to instill from the very beginning a love and appreciation of music of all styles. I encourage daily practice as well as “ breaks” on the weekend so they are not overwhelmed. Every student will be encouraged and guided to perform at least once a year to showcase their talent to friends and family
My teaching style relaxed yet firm and consistent week-to-week. I expect all my students to practice and highly encourage them to perform in a recital as often as they feel comfortable. I encourage the parents to oversee practicing during the week and give me feedback as often as necessary. When the student is young, I work with the parents on ways to keep their child motivated and interested as well as keeping my expectations realistic. Each child is different and the parents know them best! Above all, I listen to the parents instead of pushing beyond the child’s capabilities.
