I was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Russia. I picked out melodies on the piano when I was two and a half years old, and was soon taking piano lessons. When I was enrolled in music school at six years old, all of the piano openings were taken and only violin openings remained, so that became my instrument. I spent twenty years in music schools, including the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College and the St. Petersburg Conservatory. In my senior year at the conservatory, I became a member of the Kirov Opera Orchestra under the direction of Yuri Temirkanov, and Valery Gergiev. In 1985, I received second prize at the All Russian Violin Competition. Soon after graduating from the conservatory, I joined the faculty of the conservatory. I've taught violin since 1987 at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Soon after I joined the faculty I started what became the St. Petersburg String Quartet. The quartet soon was performing around the world, received major prizes on the 5 International competitions and now recognized as one of the greatest quartet of the world.
Alla is wonderful. She really recognized my daughters skill level and is moving her along quit nicely. Lovely teacher, so patient and kind. I would highly recommend her
She's awesome!
We are so appreciative of Alla and the way she works with our son. She is very skilled and more importantly patient in teaching him proper form and technique. We would definitely recommend her.
