Overview:
I am a passionate music instructor. I have been singing since I was 6 years old. I started to play guitar when I was 10. I have participated in Mariachi, in latin groups, in choirs. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Voice Performance. I have been teaching for more that 25 years and I still feel that there is a lot that I can share and teach. I am a member of the Chamber choir of the El Paso Choral Society. I also participate in Jazz groups as a singer and as a guitarist. Like I mentioned before I have more than 25 years of experience on many genres of music.
EXPERIENCE
My Experience goes back to my early and young age. I started to take lessons with a private instructor called Manolo Parra, a wonderful flamenco and classical guitarist. After 3 years of taking classes with him I started to teach guitar and work as his teaching aid. At the same time I participated and helped in church choirs as member and choir director making arrangements for original compositions and others. Today I'm still composing, arranging and directing a musical group. My experience is vast in many genres such as Latin, mariachi, gospel, church, choir.
METHODS USED
I have several methods, but mostly I teach to sing based on solfeage and songs, either italian, german, latin, spanish, and french. Solfeage helps the student to understand better sheet music and also helps understand the real emotion of the piece, among other things involved in a piece. For guitar I use Hal Leonard guitar method. I think that it is important to learn music and how to read it with your instrument. Same thing applies for singing. And, I think that the most important matter not to forget is that all methods require a lot of practice and dedication.
LESSON STYLE
I have grew knowing many students that have become professional musicians. Some of them right now, playing in another country. This makes me feel very proud because I know that my teaching style is motivational. I consider myself an active and dedicated instructor. I stick a lot with my teaching methods and I am also strict in motivate you to learns in a fun way. I am a person that grew with highly professional instructors and learn from the best. I want to share all this knowledge and make of you a great musician.
