I am a dynamic vocalist and vocal coach who loves helping students meet their singing goals. I have been performing professionally on many different stages both internationally and regionally. My career as a professional vocalist for over a decade works in tandem with my collegiate qualification to bring students the first-hand, unique and quality teaching experience that they greatly benefit from. My life's work is dedicated to the art of singing and delivering spectacular stage performances. I specialize in helping voice students with aspirations to sing professionally as well as vocal hobbyists or individuals simply seeking vocal improvement.
I am passionate about helping vocal students reach within and find their confidence. I encourage my students to find their joy while they're singing and to connect their emotions with the music-- that is the central focus of performance. I assist students in improving their singing for original music they have written as well as their favorite songs by other artists that they love to sing. It is important to me that students see the benefit in daily upkeep, maintainence and conditioning of their vocal instrument as well as their singing practice. As a performer who didn't have much guidance in the beginning of my singing journey, I understand how elemental it is to have a teacher who is also a mentor along the way. A lot of what I learned about myself as a performer I learned "on the job" without a blueprint. Had I been working alongside a committed vocal performance coach, I would've been able to avoid the common pitfalls that singers often face on their singing journeys. I am looking forward to helping the next wave of singers and aspiring professionals to become the best versions of themselves.
For students of all skill levels, I begin by communicating with them about their goals and continue on with a gentle warm up. I then guide the student through various exercises that are designed to improve and strengthen specific areas of the voice, specific registers, problem areas, and so on. If the student has a particular singing or vocal obstacle that they are experiencing, we will give extra time and attention to creating steps that will improve those issues. Finally, we complete the lesson with repertoire: the student will sing through a song they'd like to work on whether its an original piece or a favorite popular song.
My approach to teaching emphasizes the importance of patience and forming building blocks that will take the student to where they want to go, over time. I like to encourage my students by focusing on small victories that happen in each lesson so that they are inspired to accomplish more and more as our lessons continue. I have a friendly, no-pressure approach to teaching and I want my students to feel as comfortable as possible not only to be amazing singers and performers, but to also be equipped accordingly to handle snags or setbacks that may happen along the way.
