Hello, My name is Amanda! I am overjoyed with this opportunity to teach vocal lessons. My mission is to help young and old alike to find their voice. I started singing a little over 7 years ago as a pastime hobby. Then I started my own podcast. After seeing how it did so well I kept singing. I have taken a couple courses in music which really opened up my eyes to the ‘history’ of music, but my talent is natural and effortless. I am a full time student graduating in a year with hopes of singing part time as a worship Leader through Evangelism; yet, I also wish to work as a Business administrator for non-profits, and as a government social worker helping the less fortunate. I have so much to do, luckily my degree covers all three interests. However, nothing beats singing it frees me spiritually and heals me mentally. Music is powerful and I look forward to expereincing this song full journey with you.
As natural as a singing voice can be it still takes effort and hard work to maintain your sound or keep yourself relevant. I self taught myself a lot. Through this self teaching I was able to help others go through the same process a little easier. I spent hours if not “shut ins” (days of just soaking and singing) editing and correcting my tone. Developing and finding your voice (confidence in yourself), knowing your sound/ style, and finally finding your rhythm to where even if there is no beat you can become one and be the beat is the basics before any singer can bloom. What makes me a different teacher from the rest is that I’m not just helping you define your genre, I am defining you amongst your genre so that you stand out from all others!
My teaching method is very simple yet effective.1. Find your voice, 2. Know your sound, style, and genre., and 3. Find your rhythm. The first step helps the individual find their voice. Which is, helping one find confidence in their voice and helping to establish belief in their sound. Next, finding out what inspires them to sing and also what motivates them to sing would be the clues I need to prepare the right lesson. If one has no faith in their own voice their music will show lack of structure. Next, knowing what type of sound one wants to deliver or put out into the world is important, because no one wants to feel uncomfortable singing something that isn’t for them. People receive more when the artist or vocalist shows confidence and a natural joy or love for what their singing. So knowing what kind of singer and style you want to sing in is important. However, if you want to be apart of more then one that is ok too! I have nothing but time to help you discover your vibe. Lastly, rhythm is everything, to be off beat is everything.
Also, there is a thing called “tone deaf” as some people have trouble keeping a beat and sings off key. This is all okay! Anyone can find rhythm from with in we just have to slower our pace and tone down the noise with in our everyday lives and find our own sound. Overall, this is one way of teaching vocalists but I have many other ways to bringing out the song in anyone. Plus for those who are more advance I am just as pleased with helping someone put the finishing touches on their song or give a bit of a confidence boost where needed. I am the teacher but I believe in the student leading!
My teaching style is very relaxed, reassuring, and stress free. There is no overwhelming goals set in place, but growth will be noticed instantly. I am very patient, kind, and really good at just listening out for the need of the student and harmonizing with them. I will teach every student differently because each persons needs are different. My lessons are tailored to the student unique needs. My teaching style is geared more towards the person and their vocals. Their spiritual state, physical state, emotional /mental state must all be at peace in order for true greatness to flow when singing. We sing from the soul. One would be very surprised as to why one song flourished and not the other. Singing is all about the vocalists demeanor. Therefore, Teachers must know their student in order to truly help them find their voice and shape their sound.
