Overview:
Hi! My name is Amber Demery, and I love to sing! I'm an enthusiastic instructor who loves working with students and helping them to reach their full potential. I have a Master of Music degree from Georgia State University with an emphasis in Vocal Performance/Opera Studies. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (Vocal Performance emphasis) from Tougaloo College. I've had the opportunity to travel to sing in Italy, and I also have had the privilege of working with some of the most renowned vocal instructors, directors, and coaches in the business.
EXPERIENCE
I began teaching toward the end of my graduate studies at Georgia State University where I received my Master of Music degree. Teaching provides me with an opportunity to share my love of music with those who want to learn to become better vocalists. I'm classically trained, but I grew up singing Gospel and listening to R&B and Pop music. I love being on stage, and have experience performing in Opera, Musicals, as wells as solo performances. If you're ready to learn and have fun, I would love to be your teacher!
METHODS USED
My method of teaching is tailored to each student. The first step is to assess the level of a student. Once that is accomplished, together we develop a plan that fits the needs and goals of that student. For beginning students who are children, I typically assign musical theater pieces that will develop their skill and technique but not be too daunting for early singers. For adults, the lessons are usually geared toward the type of music that interests the student in conjunction with my guidance and instruction that keeps the lesson exciting and fun!
LESSON STYLE
As a teacher, nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student excited about their progress! Studying voice is process. It is my job to lead and guide each student at his or her own pace. I push students to their full potential, while providing positive reinforcement and setting realistic goals. Singing is very personal, and can even be frightening for new students. I develop trusting relationships with my students, so they are free to express themselves and push themselves beyond what they even dreamed possible!
