I am a classically trained guitarist from Miami, Florida and I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, with 5 years of classical training under my belt. I am currently studying the classical guitar with Professor Jose Adan, former student of world renowned guitarist, Pepe Romero, and I work hard and practice several hours a day in order to get better and better at my craft, so that I can share all of my knowledge and skill with you to the best of my ability. I look forward to guiding you on your guitar playing journey and can't wait to get started!
I have been a private lessons instructor with Guitar Center for about three years. Within my time there I gained experience in teaching students utilizing an organized lessons curriculum, building trust and community through clear and timely communication with students and families, establishing an exemplary classroom culture that balances high expectations with love and support, helping to create a positive, achievement-oriented and structured learning environment that excites and invests students, and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning through thoughtful and continuous planning.
I typically start by first assessing whether or not the student has any prior experience in musical training, whether that be in a private instrument, music theory, or just some experience gained from taking music classes at school. From there I develop a curriculum tailored to both the student's current level of musical knowledge as well as what interests them. When teaching and assigning homework and repertoire, I like to offer a balance between what the student wants to learn and the essential exercises that will expand the student's musical knowledge, abilities and muscle memory.
I like to balance structure with fun! This balance is very important when teaching any student a new instrument. Too much discipline and not enough fun and creativity could result in the student feeling stressed out or unmotivated. On the other hand, not enough discipline will make it difficult for the student to progress efficiently. I work with the student at their own pace and set realistic goals for them at each lesson. This is important because a student needs to see that they are making progress to feel motivated enough to continue.
