I am a caring and passionate voice teacher who loves teaching what I've learned, as well as the passion and love I have for music, to students. I graduated from Austin Peay State University in 2013 with a BS in Vocal Performance. I was in a world renowned children's choir back home in PR, called San Juan Children's Choir, for 10 years. With them I got to travel the world performing. That was one of the most enriching experiences ever. I have performed several operas with the Opera workshop at Austin Peay State University. I love to perform on stage.
My teaching experience dates back to when I was 16 and began working with young beginners. I then went on to work with intermediate level students and in college I worked with advanced as well as beginner voice students. I love sharing the passion and love I have for music with students. I believe that a consistent practice and lesson schedule works to both my and the students advancement and growth in music. I am classically trained, but can also teach jazz vocals. I love incorporating fun into lessons, as well as hard work to keep a student interested in the lessons. I am open to having students of all ages and levels. I would encourage students to enter age appropriate competitions and recitals so they can share their musical growth, as well as be proud of all they have accomplished.
For beginner students who are children I would begin with Gregory Blankenbehler's Singing Lessons for Little Children so the child gets a grasp on fundamentals before continuing onto solo music. For adults, it would depend on their music level, their ability, and what they are passionate about.
My ultimate goal would be to guide students through their growth in music and abilities. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing that I have shared my knowledge and passion with a student and they grew from it. I believe that every student learns differently, so I teach lessons according to how they learn. I set up realistic goals for every lesson and I acknowledge progress and accomplishments to help fuel a students desire to continue in music.
