Overview:

I’ve always enjoyed teaching. I think it’s important to share the knowledge that I’ve gained, studying and working as a professional musician. I'm 27 years old and has been teaching for around 8 years. I went to school at Conservatory Van Amsterdam in Holland and The New School of Jazz in New York. I'm originally from Copenhagen Denmark, but I have toured all over Europe performed in Asia and The states, I've been lucky that music has taken me to different places. I've worked with grammy award winning artists and am lucky to make a living playing music in New York. I've always enjoyed teaching and would enjoy teaching you.

EXPERIENCE

I started teaching 8 years ago, I've taught students of all ages and levels, and I find that I've learned a lot from teaching, formulating my ideas, explaining things, guiding students and following their development is always interesting. I encourage my students to practice every day even just 20 min makes a huge difference, usually what happens is if a student picks it up and have the right guidance they'll play for longer. Music consists of a lot of things and I try to incorporate the different areas into my teaching, such as hearing, playing by ear, theory, repertoire, knowledge of styles, sight reading, harmony, rhythm and so forth. Of course we cant talk about it all at once but step my step, well get to talk about all of it.

METHODS USED

Philosophy Every student, musician and person is different. I think it's my job to find out what inspires and motivates each student, and guide them towards their goals. I think it's important that it has to be fun to be interesting, and the other way around, only then can the student reach their full potential as a musician. At the core my goal is for the student to improve, and enjoy how wonderful it is to play music.

Topics. Fundamental and advanced understanding of melodies, harmony, rhythm, ear-training, control of sound pitch and tone quality, theory. Learning about styles from blues, swing, bebop and hard-bop language to contemporary jazz and popular music. How to develop an individual practice. Getting to know different styles, and find your own voice as an improviser and composer.

LESSON STYLE

The student has to develop in their own phase. My primary role is to inspire and motivate to student, to set goals for them selves, and help them to reach their desired goals. But most importantly having fun with music, each student has an individual way of learning, my goal is to find what inspire them and go deeper into that. We'll listen to a lot of examples of music and we'll play a lot together, my lessons are hands on, learning by playing, this includes leaning songs and look at them from different perspectives; listening, rhythmical, melodically, theoretical, looking at scales sound and rhythm. I look forward working with you.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
