2012- Berklee Achievment Scholarship (B.A.S)
I am really passionate when it comes to teaching and performing. In 2012, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a bachelor's degree on Performance and a minor in Latin Studies and Performance. I had the opportunity to performe with musicians from all over the world playing different styles such as latin, jazz, rock, blues, chamber, pop and world music. My professionalism and seriousness towards music and teaching have granted me the respect from musicians all over the world and my students.
I started teaching since I was 15 years old and throughout the years I have crafted my teaching skills so that my students can receive the best out every session we have. Two of the mayor components to a better learning is consistency and focus. With these elements, students can creates a strong passion towards the instruments thus making him/her a better and dedicated musician. I am always looking for ways to motivate my students in their learning process. That's why I use all the material and tools available.
My method of teaching depends on what the student wants to learn and if he or she have already set goals. I have numerous methods for drumset that will help the student get better on their technique, learn rhythms, sigh read, develop musicianship, soloing concepts, read charts, sticking patterns, coordination/independence, develop groove and feel, construction and creation of fills and more. I also use audio and video examples to help support the learning process. In these modern times we can have an overload of information. As an experienced teacher, I have filter these information over the years so that my students can have a clean and organize learning process and get the best from every class.
In the first session, I like to make a couple of questions to my students so I get to know them a little bit more. With their answers, I get a glimpse of his/her personality and get to know my students. If the student is new to the instrument, then we go through the basics and we start from there. If the student already plays the instrument, then I ask for a demonstration so I can make an evaluation. From there, I develop the material based on his goals and my observations. No matter the level of drumming or age, I always like to go on detail about the things I teach. The more information the student receives the more he/she will understand the topic and the process. Teaching is not a linear thing. Sometimes you need to explain things with different perspectives. With more than 15 years of experience as a teacher, I have gathered all the knowledge and filtered it so they can fully grasp it and explode their potential.
