I am a passionate music teacher that strives towards my students' successes. I graduated in 2009 from University of the Arts with a Bachelor of the Arts in Music Composition. My love for music has lead me to perform with my latin/r&b band Buddy Roc & The Heartbreak Kids all over the Greater Philadelphia area. In October 2017, we were featured as Coors Light Artist of the Month where they sponsored my video for my song "Next Man". I've also performed at various Philadelphia events like the 2017 Christmas Tree Lighting where I sang Lin Manuel Miranda's Song "Almost Like Praying" to bring awareness to Puerto Rico as it was devastatingly affected by Hurricane Maria.
I have been teaching for almost 10 years, in Philadelphia schools such as Olney High School, Nueva Esperanza, AMLA Latin School for The Performing Arts, Taller Puertorriqueño, and Philly Music Lessons. I have been consistently teaching students in my home studio within the last 6 years. As music composition and music production are rapidly changing with the rise of technology, I also teach music composition with technology in mind. As students are able to learn and play keyboard and piano, they will also learn how to make their own music using music & beat-making software such as Ableton Live, Reason, ProTools, and other DAWs.
My goal as a vocal, beat-production, music theory, or piano instructor is to unlock your inner artist and cultivate what exactly YOU excel; not to impart my style onto you. I identify the walls that you have built around your true artist, so we can systematically break those down TOGETHER. Being a creative person means expressing yourself in your truest form. Often times we have these "ideas" about who we are, so we project those "ideas" onto our singing, producing, piano playing, etc. This can cause our relationship with our voice or music to become strained, and can translate within our performance. Then, I prove techniques and exercises to help strengthen your skill in the area of expertise you are deciding to improve upon.
Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced, everyone needs a mentor to guide them in their art and with their gift. I think it's important for every student to progress at their own pace within their own level of comfortability. This helps the student develop empowering confidence in their own abilities. Every person manifests their voice through their body, so I approach singing in the same way a Yogi would approach Yoga. It's about maximizing concentration and reducing tension in the body to unlock the talent the student already holds within themselves.
