Former member of the Dana Guitar Quartet,
Former President of the Dana Guitar Association
I am a Guitar Performance graduate of the Dana School Of Music. I self-taught myself guitar and have been playing for about 11 years. I perform classical guitar solo and with my acoustic trio, where I play guitar, mandolin, flute, and ukulele. Formerly, I played bass in a local rock band. In my performing, I have been able to play at different schools, bars, museums, and even at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater! Once I began teaching music to students, I found my main passion in music. I find that every performance and lesson is worth the smiles and joy they receive!
I started teaching guitar my senior year of high school in January of 2015. Ever since then, I found that I had a passion to teach music to students of all ages. I am always able to connect with my students and find the correct pace to take them on their musical journey. In my teaching, I let the students decide what they are going to work on and learn, along with my guidance. I make each lesson knowledgeable, laid back, and fun. I always make sure to ask each student what they hope to achieve in their lessons and guide them to accomplish their goals.
My teaching style is knowledgeable, but also very fun and laid back. I will always go at the students pace, whether it is fast or slow. I will teach students basics in sight reading, and the best way to practice a piece of music. I will let the student know what they have been doing well and what they need to work on. If they are ever having trouble with a technique or piece of music, I will be sure to give that issue extra attention and figure out why the student is having difficulties. No matter how difficult the piece or technique, the student will be able to accomplish it!
