2021 - Music and Technology Associates Degree: Bass Concentration
Growing up in Las Vegas, I was steeped in my hometown's tradition of artcentric style and bustling entertainment industry. My love of practice and performance was sparked by playing viola in the public school system and city youth orchestra. When I picked up bass guitar as a teenager, I quickly became immersed into the music scene. Gigging with local heavy metal acts inspired me to begin my music education at AIMM, where I studied Music Production and Bass Performance. Now having settled in Atlanta, I currently write and record music with Butterfly Sanctuary.
I have two years of experience as a bass instructor in private and group-based lessons. Connecting with students from ages 6 to 45, I bring a knowledgable approach and genuine love of music to students who look to find their groove. For all styles of learners, I incorporate a wide range of material to acommodate students' personal interests. It's my goal to guide students to discover their creativity and passion for music, helping them express their soul through their instrument for a lifetime of enjoyment.
I spend time at the beginning of our first lesson getting to know about you and your goals. Instead of teaching scales and chords alone, I have students learn a song so that I can illustrate how music concepts are applied in context. By assigning content that is aligned with your interests and skill level, we can break down the song we're learning into lessons that encompass technique and theory. You'll receive notes about what we worked on after every lesson, as documenting your progress will ensure that youre on a directed path! All lesson materials are provided digitally, including tabs and notation for songs that you may request to learn.
I'm well-versed in rock, metal, and pop playing styles and I welcome any musical genre. I prioritize fundamentals and fun in the learning process, while taking every opportunity to challenge my students. Instilling confidence in students is important because it helps them break out of their comfort zone. and open to using cross-disciplinary approaches to enhance a student's understanding of music theory and technique. My goal is to present new approaches that are tailored to each student's needs.
