She is a soloist and ensemble player in the NY metropolitan area and recently launched Circe’s Consort, an ensemble exploring music of the 16th and 17th centuries. Over decades of teaching, The Ewald Suzuki Guitar Method evolved, her own approach to learning guitar the classical way. She enjoys making students of all ages happy with their instruments. METHODS USED
For children under the age of 9, I recommend a Suzuki-based method which involves the parents at each lesson and for at-home practice. For children 9 and up, I offer a more traditional classical approach which shows them how to read, interpret and gives them the technical skills on the instrument to enjoy themselves and keep on growing musically. Adults are wonderful students and for each one I craft a path of study to allow them to grow in skill as they master new levels, from absolute beginner to advanced musician.
LESSON STYLE
I listen and watch students and learn from them what it is they need, going from wherever they may be with the instrument, to the next step. And then beyond, all at a pace which motivates them while making them confident they have what they need to enjoy their own music. Each student is unique and I tailor what we do to their age, level of experience, musical aspirations and personality. Many of my students are delighted to uncover a musical life they did not know they even had! Their satisfaction is my joy.
