Overview:
Music is my passion. I started playing the piano at the age of five and have never stopped since. I have performed in numerous recitals and won various competitions. I pursued a 4-year Music degree and continued to improve through self-study. I have 14 years of experience teaching piano to people of all ages (children and adults). I specialize in Classical, Pop, and Contemporary music. Over the years of teaching, I am fortunate to meet amazing people and make good friends along the way.
EXPERIENCE
I started teaching piano when I was in college. When I got out of school, I taught in a music studio for more than 10 years and also did home tutorials. Every year, together with my co-teachers, we would have students' recitals to show each student's progress. It is very fulfilling to see my students perform on stage with their proud parents watching. I love working with all my students especially those whom I have taught for many years and I have considered as friends. Recently, I have been teaching online via Zoom.
METHODS USED
I base my beginner books according to my student's age. For early beginners, I usually start them with John Thompson's Easiest part 1 and 2. Theory exercises in the book help students learn to read and write notes. The lessons have piano accompaniments for the teacher to make simple pieces sound more interesting. For adult beginners, I recommend Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course. It provides theory, technique, and nice piano solos. The book introduces the student to nice and easy arrangements of popular classical music.
LESSON STYLE
Developing a genuine interest in Music is very important to every student. To be able to do this, I try to make every lesson interesting and enjoyable. I incorporate classical and modern method of teaching, if necessary, to be able to hold the interest of students, especially the young beginners. Learning the basic elements of Music is very important. It takes a lot of patience to learn all of it but make everything else easier afterwards. When they are ready, I encourage my students to suggest pieces they would like to play and apply everything they learned from their lessons.

Before I met Teacher Anne, I was another teacher’s student, and although I’m very grateful to that teacher, I have to say that I have Teacher Anne to thank for my piano skills. I learned a lot from her in just one week compared to my previous teacher. In just a few months, she already had me playing advanced pieces which are still some of my go to pieces to this day. Like what she has said in her profile, she really has a genuine interest for her students to develop their own interest and love for music. She helped me learn and discover new things about myself and my music, and with her guidance, she was able hone my skills, and amplify my love for music which has always been there all along. Humble, even with her achievements, coupled with her vast experience and educational background, I would say that she is one of the most qualified teachers around. When I learned that she was to leave for the U.S., I was very saddened, because not only would I lose a great teacher, but also a friend, who is like a big sister to me. For that, she holds a special place in my heart. She taught me and my brother how to play the piano, and with her patience, as well as her ability to teach us by playing to our strengths are one of the reasons we were able to develop our skills even more. To this day, I’m still sad to lose such a wonderful teacher because I feel that there is so much more that I have to learn, but I’m happy for her, and I’m glad to know she’s starting to teach again so she could share her knowledge to a new set of students. To those lucky ones who will be her new students, you won’t regret it! And I hope you find your love for music like I did.

It took me along time to post a review, as I know that my Teacher Anne deserves a well written review from the heart. If you would like to learn to play the piano, Teacher Anne is the best person to guide you and teach you as she knows how to balance the learning and at the same time, enjoying the process. Teacher Anne is extremely patient to her students, but does not sugar coat things. You will be inspired by her natural talent and skills in playing the piano, and you won't feel intimidated, thus will get more motivated. I encourage you to try from Beginner to Advanced Level and test her musical skills :)

I never knew I could play Beethoven and Pachelbel pieces, among others, if not for Teacher Anne. She is very patient, friendly and kind. She doesn't make you feel bad about your mistakes, instead she will guide you step by step of the way. Teacher Anne has an extensive knowledge and experience in music, a truly talented and inspirational woman. Thank you Teacher Anne, learning the piano was very enjoyable to me!

Anne was my daughter's piano tutor and she's an angel! She's very patient, nurturing and she made the lessons engaging. I could tell that my daughter was looking forward to her lessons and she has shown great improvements even with just a few sessions. Highly recommended!

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
