Awards:
2015 - Second place Middle School Band at Music in Music in the Parks Competition
Overview:
I am a passionate and motivated musician, artist, and educator. I believe God blessed me with the gifts I have in order to be a musical blessing to others and teach instrumental music. I have been a performer since middle school and have carried it into my professional career. I graduated from Coppin State University with a Bachelor of Science in Urban Arts and a minor in music. The Urban arts degree combines vaious art form with the individual focusing on his/her particular art form. I am a strongly dedicated person that loves to teach the joy and fun of playing music.
EXPERIENCE
During my internship with Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center and volunteer work with The Cavalier Music Enrichment Program (both based in Baltimore, Maryland), I have taught music to over 250 students. From general music theory to specific instruction in brass, woodwind, and percussion techniques; I have had the privilege to work with students of various ages, spanning from sixth graders to college students. While interning and volunteering I developed a great appreciation for teaching and a strong dedication to student progression. During my employment with Sallie B. Howard School for the Arts and Education (in Wilson, NC) where I introduced a marching band program and lead the band to winning second place in the Music in the Parks competition in May of 2015. During my internship I was able to develop a percussion line with the students in under a month. The formation and level of proficiency of the percussion section was so astonishing that administrators, staff, other teachers, and even the principal dropped in from time to time just to hear the progression of the ensemble. I arranged cadences, taught proper technique, and were still able to provide a fun and fulfilling experience for the students. I believe I am the perfect candidate to introduce and induct our future leaders into the wonderful world of music. My enthusiasm, determination, experience and love for music and teaching music to students will make me an asset to your school. I look forward to teaching you.
METHODS USED
For begining student I typically start with a book called Essential Elements. I supplement some of the things in the book with other literature and hand written exercise to help enhance learning experience. For Adults I try to find what genre and music style they would like to work on. This then allows me to plan a custom learning experience that best suits them and what they're looking to gain from the experience. Students are asked for their feed back weekly so that their learning experience is optimized for their enjoyment, effectiveness, efficiency in learning music.
LESSON STYLE
To make the learning experience fun and engaging. I first introduce concepts; then connect to well known songs and music that allow you to understand and appreciate the vital concepts and themes being illustrated. Together we set realistic goals, learn from where we may have missed the mark, and celebrate our achievements. This allows me to tailor your lesson so that you may gain the absolute most at of each and everyone. We work together to enhance the learning experience and find creative means to make learning music both enjoyable and achievable.

Anthony is an upbeat, confidence-building, warm, friendly piano teacher. My two daughters are constantly getting high-fived and encouraged during the lesson. He brings rhythm, finger positioning, and note learning all into each lesson. So my daughters are learning while having fun! Best combo!
