Overview:
I have a great passion and love for music in which i love to share with anybody and everbody. I started on the drums at age 5 and have been rehearsing, recording, sessioning, and performing for 20 years. I was center snare and section leader of my high school drumline and lead them to win 4 state titles in "Outstanding Drumline". Then moved on to study percussion performance at McNally Smith College of music
EXPERIENCE
My first expirence teaching started back in high school with working indivisually and in group sessions with the drumline. I worked with all sections of the battery (quads, quints, bass drum, snare) on perfecting technique, levels between sections, theory, ect. After High School, and part way through college, I started giving indivisual lessons on the drum set studying a vast variety of genres and techniques
METHODS USED
Technique, music theory, rudiments, feel. I'll start out with the student playing a few minutes with me. from there I write up a few bars to see what level of sight reading he/she is at. I personalize every lesson based on the student with writing out warm-ups, rudimentary phrases, and grooves.
LESSON STYLE
My favorate way to start a teacher student relationship is to have the student just sit on the drums and let loose for me. This gives me a good idea of where to start with the student and to see what he/shes preferences are. I like to focus strongly on technique, fundimentals, and music theory. My overall goal is to build the students skills and confidence to be able to sit in and jam in any kind of situation
