I am an alumni of the prestigious Manhattan School of Music where I earned my degree of bachelor of music in classical voice with my voice teacher Mignon Dunn. I chose to attend Manhattan School of Music after earning my Associate of Arts degree in music education under the tutelage of mezzo soprano Mrs. Janet Rabe- Meyer. During my time at MSM, i’ve performed in Manhattan School of Music’s concert choir, Sophomore performance class, and renowned soprano Catherine Malfitano’s Junior opera theater. My most recent performances include “The Queen of The Night” in Manhattan School of Music’s production of Mozart’s most famous opera Die Zauberflöte,, and “Donna Anna” in Mozart’s Don Giovanni . I have been accepted into some of the most top music programs such as the Berlin Opera Academy and has competed in top competitions such as the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition at the district level. While in attendance at MSM,
During my time at MSM, I have gained an abundance of knowledge in music theory/ aural skills training, piano skills, music education and vocal techniques in pedagogy. Because of this, I’ve always believed that it is important for a teacher to take time to learn their students and their own unique way of performing. I will never forget being a young ambitious artist with big dreams of becoming a successful opera singer. Now that I have reached a point in my life where I am living that dream, I want to be able to guide a young singer to one day live theirs as well.
I believe each singer is a unique individual, Therefore, the sound they make and the ideas they communicate are as unique as they are. My number one priority is to help a singer find "their special voice" through exercises that accommodate aural, and visual learning styles. These exercises lead to healthy singing and reduce tension, improve breath management, strengthen the voice, and increase range. I will also assist in my student's selection of a variety of appropriate arias and songs (including sacred, secular, and popular) for college / school auditions.
I also believe that in order for a singer to reach their highest potential they must also learn by watching others practice there craft as well. Therefore, I will be having weekly studio classes to allow all students to gain confidence in performing in front of fellow colleagues while also gaining constructive feedback in a “masterclass” type setting. This builds a level of confidence and combats against stage fright, which is something almost all young and beginning singers experience. You must learn to love and embrace the stage and the audience you’re performing for.
