I am an experienced vocal coach with a passion for HEALTHY vocal techniques. Many of my students come in with little to no experience, and the differences we are able to get within one lesson is amazing! Wether the reason you want lessons is to expand your range, learn a new style of voice, work on pitch training, or even just to learn a couple karaoke songs so you can crush it on the next karaoke night, I am always honored to help. I take a unique approach to each student, because not everyone learns the same, but no matter what student I am with, I can promise one thing, and that is that we are having fun! Thank you for your time and I so look forward to meeting you!
From the young age of five years old, I begin training in opera. I never understood why my teacher was so passionate about teaching me operatic techniques, but now as an adult, I can appreciate the versatility that learning opera gave me. I went on to be a part of the Rhode Island Children's Chorus, learning from Dr. Christine Noel. Eventually, in my high school years, I became an apprentice with the chorus and began teaching. I have worked with so many professionals in the field and traveled all over the country both learning and teaching voice.
Boiling down one specific method to generalize my technique of teaching is difficult. Each student is so unique and requires different types of teaching and technique to reach their goals. I have some students who are very visual and we use a lot of hand movements to place where their voice needs to be, and I have others who are very technical. Overall, I focus mainly on getting the sound out without strain on the vocal cords and on breathing correctly. If you asked my students, the two words I use the most are "breath" and "mouth shape." I like my students to choose their own music to start with, and then I will slowly start adding repertoire that I believe will help elevate your voice to the next level.
While my methods may vary from student to student, there is one thing that any student, or person who has sat in on a lesson will tell you about my teaching style; I am extremely positive! I celebrate every small win with students because the reality is, I am asking a lot of them! Taking voice lessons is something that we do because we LOVE singing, and that should never be forgotten. In my lesson we are never standing still, making every moment fun and memorable, and I am always coming up with new fun ways to remember specific techniques so they are easy to remember!
