BA, Lee University, Applied Voice Certificate of Ministry, Rhema Bible Training Center
I was raised in a musical family and have always loved both the teaching and the performing aspects of music. In 2005, I graduated from Lee University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Voice. I have been blessed to travel the world with several music groups, and I believe that every experience is of value to a musician!
I began teaching piano lessons as part of my mother's studio at the age of 15. Teaching music has been a constant career for me since that time, whether part-time or full-time, and it is a joy! I enjoy connecting with my students on a personal level and then helping them move forward in their study of music. It is a satisfying experience for me to guide my students toward a place of music appreciation and to assist them in learning to incorporate it into their lifetime pursuits! My students are encouraged to perform in recitals and to grow in musicianship, and I am excited to take on new students and begin the journey of musical study with them!
For beginning piano students, I usually begin with the Alfred Prep Course, supplemented with a notespeller to help expedite learning to read music. I also begin ear training, chords, and solo repertoire as the student becomes ready. For voice students, I begin with breathing, vocal technique, and skill-level appropriate songs. For all students, regardless of instrument and experience, I aim to set goals together with them and use each lesson to advance toward the completion of those goals!
I have a deep-seated passion for music, and as a teacher I endeavor to locate the spark of interest in each student and help fan that spark into a flame! By helping my students to keep their eyes on the prize, the mastery of their instrument, we will successfully enjoy a fulfilling, satisfying, and exciting journey together, marked with personal successes and achievements all along the way!
The twins love her. Her teaching methods are innovative. Punctual and personable. Major improvement compared with previous teacher.
Ms Ashley is always on time for each lesson. My 12 year old daughter loves the lessons. She is encouraging, but still ensures she is learning and advancing. We would recommend this teacher for piano lessons to anyone who was interested in learning piano.
