Bachelor Degree: Warner Pacific University
Outstanding Student in Music for the year 2020-2021 Recipient Warner Pacific University
Hello, I am Asia. I offer vocal lessons to beginners as well as those who are already proficient in the art, and I am also a local performer. I reside in Portland, Oregon, and my entire existence has been driven by singing and choir. I have had the privilege of studying with outstanding professors. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance at Warner Pacific University in 2021. It has been gratifying to perform throughout the city and make new acquaintances. I have performed at worship services, college graduations, and with over 25 students in afterschool choir and vocal classes in the broader metro Portland region. have been singing since I was a child and have always cherished the manner in which music unites us all. I want to further share my education in music with anyone who wants and needs it. I am here to help!
I taught private lessons during my time at college. About a year ago, I started teaching vocal lessons online after instructing family, friends, and students for over two years. And most recently, I've been a choir teacher, conducting a children's choir. We travel around the city to local schools, have recitals, and spread our joy of singing. I adore meeting ambitious students every day. Practice, practice, and connect with your song is my motto. I studied classical music for eight years. I discovered world classical music in high school, fell in love with it, and continued my studies in the art along with exploring worship leadership. I always enjoyed R&B and pop growing up, so adding classical was a great bonus to my repertoire. I started teaching modern music along with classical training methods to get the best of both worlds. This helps strengthen singers, and music expresses emotion and can be very therapeutic, which is exciting and transformative. My kids leave with more self-assurance, a music community, and the confidence to perform.
Simple breathing techniques, Hal Leonard's Vocal Warmups, is a good book I use for beginners levels and other techniques will be taught to my beginners. We will discuss each student's goals and what they hope to accomplish in their classes. I will ask each student to sing a couple of notes and songs that I have prepared in order to assess their vocal range (alto, soprano, etc.). With the song of your choice, we will go over tone, vowel placements, translations, and performance enhancers (supporting additional sound, staging, etc.) to make the song your own and better than you have performed before.
I can produce well-rounded performers that thrive in their craft and have a strong sense of purpose and meaning in their art. This innovative strategy has yielded outstanding outcomes, impacting both my clients and the community. Individualized learning and mentorship help my pupils achieve their best and become independent musicians who are confident in their abilities and talents. There is nothing more rewarding and powerful than seeing students and their families discover their child's talents.
