Since I was three years old I have been obsessed with music, when I got my first drumset. since then I have spent my entire life learning and mastering the art of sound. To this day I am fortunate to still be spending every day doing what I love and evolving. I have has also had the good fortune to work with amazing and incredible musicians and I want to help you on your musical journey as I once had a great mentor help me. I look Forward to sharing songs and laughter with you along with the vast expanse of knowledge that I have gained over the years I have spent learning and playing music.
I taught my first lessons over ten years ago now. I was only in high school then but I was very entrupenurial even then passing out flyers and posting them around my school gaining several students even then. This lead to me receiving several scholarship opportunities to many music programs around the country but I decided to stay in Orlando and go to school for completely free. since then I have played with bands and traveled and continued to teach music lessons. Now I am so very fortunate to be working with Musika to continue on this amazing career path.
For beginner students who are children I like to start by teaching them the songs that they like, because that keeps them focused on learning and engaged in the beginning. Then I go on to teach them the industry standards and classics that every guitar player needs to know to be effective. Finally I can move on to teaching theory and the reason why songs sound good in the first place all the while doing both Mel Bay and Hal Leonard lessons when applicable. I also teach all of the Berklee course work that I learned and other things that I find important to being an excellent guitar player.
It is important that every student learns and improves at their own pace because everyone learns differently. So I break down songs and theory in to increments so that they can be more easily digested over time. I find that this method of learning is extremely helpful in the retention of the knowledge the student learns. Also not all students are interested in learning the same things so I think it is very important to find out what the student wants to learn and gain from playing music and what their expectations for themselves are.
