I performed in a 50 person choir traveling across the United States and recording concerts on LPs. I was a folk/rock band member doing vocals and harmonies touring the New York state area.

Overview:

I have been playing piano, guitar and singing since I was 7 years old. I have been teaching music, including music theory and improvisation, for over 20 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from S.U.N.Y. Cortland and a Master of Science Degree in Instructional Technology from New York Institute of Technology. Music is my profession and my passion. I have experience in a wide variety of musical styles and I design my lessons based on my students' interests. Listening to their interests and guiding them with new ideas is the most rewarding part of my teaching experience.

EXPERIENCE

I teach from my home studio. I teach private lessons and give my students my full attention which has proved to be the key to my continually increasing student enrollment and high retention rate. Music has been an integral part of my life, playing a major role in both my personal and professional life. I embrace the chance to be immersed in it, to share my enthusiasm for and expertise in the area of music education, promoting creative development and student performance skills. I am enthusiastic in my teaching and the results are the best part.

METHODS USED

I possess excellent communication skills, that is to say, I listen well to my students before I speak. My students are free and encouraged to express their goals and they become comfortable doing so. They begin to understand that even though I am their instructor, we are working as a team and that my goals for them are directly tied to the goals they have set for themselves. I always use easy to understand and practical piano books chosen based on the student's experience, age, and goals. We usually choose the books together, which makes the partnership strong right from the start,

LESSON STYLE

My teaching style is natural, relaxed and yet, very enthusiastic, all at the same time. I have patience in abundance and my continual student affirmation is well received. I give most attention to personalizing instruction for each of my students. My passion for musical expression is contagious and readily shared. It is a joy to teach music, to contribute to the growth and delight that I witness through a student's progress. The progress that a student experiences, along with their successes, is among the most important, enjoyable and most exciting aspects of their musical journey. I don't forget the fun we find together in making music. I don’t forget the goals we set. This is a part of the lessons on a regular basis. That is simply the nature of the musical voyage.
