BA, Music Institute of Russia, Piano and Accompanist
Overview:
I am a patient and dedicated piano teacher who loves to see my students pleased of their progress and their accomplishments. I was hand-picked by a group of professional piano school directors to begin training at the early age of 6 through the Music School for Gifted Children in Russia. After 11 years of intensive training in piano performance and theory, I went on to complete my Bachelors degree at Music College of Russia. I was classically trained in music education and accompaniment. Straight after completing my studies, I began to pursue my love of teaching and taught students of all ages in a music school in Russia. I moved to America several decades ago and have been teaching students of all ages here as well. Along with teaching, I often perform professionally at benefits, galas, and other charitable fundraising events.
EXPERIENCE
I am a very experienced piano teacher with over 25 years of experience both in the United States and internationally. Before moving to the United States, I taught at the highly regarded Children's Music School of Belarus. I have worked at the Suzuki Music School of Houston since 2000, instructing students in piano, piano performance, and theory. I am a full believer in a well-rounded player so I encourage and direct my students to performance opportunities outside of the class room setting. My students perform at many musicales and recitals every year to demonstrate their skills and receive recognition for their hard work. I take pride in getting them ready for their debuts and fueling their interest in different kinds of musical pieces and genres. Those interested in putting in the extra effort for competitions will be entered into those as well.
METHODS USED
My students can expect to have a tailored curriculum based on age, experience, and style preferences. I am proud to say that I am trained in both Traditional and Suzuki methods, which is an advantage when working with a wide range of pupils. I often alternate between these methods, based on what the student preference. I often start beginner students on sight-reading which involves picking up the song by ear before moving on to more complex pieces. Initially, I will provide copies of the musical pieces but will give my recommendations for more permanent materials. With more experienced and older students, I let them guide me towards pieces they are interested in and wish to learn.
LESSON STYLE
My students can expect a teacher who is patient, understanding, and demands the very best from them, according to their abilities. Teaching has always been my passion and I believe that children gain so much more than just an elegant skill. Students of all ages gain confidence, self-esteem, and a good work ethic. Music is linked to better math grades, improved memory, and general. I love that my job is helping students achieve their goals. I enjoy watching them succeed and explore their talents. I believe that music is a gift which you can give yourself at any age. It will expand your mind and fill your heart. It is a skill which you and your family will enjoy forever. Although many of the students I work with begin at age 5, I have seen adults of all ages succeed under my instruction.
