I started my musical career in Boston playing with various groups around the city. I have played with Arturo O'Farril-Pianist, composer 2009 Grammy Award Winner for best Latin Jazz album, Mike Stern-Guitarist, one of the most important jazz/rock guitarist of his generation performed in the Village in New York City, Nichelle Nichols-Actress/Vocalist, Known for her role as LT. Uhura in Star Trek, Sun Festival at Westworld in Scottsdale, AZ and The St Peter's Church in New York City, NY with Trumpeter Lester Bowie!!!
I have taught at North Central University in Minneapolia, Minnesota, and the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music in Brooklyn New York. I have taught privately for 20+ years and I enjoy the applications and creative processes involved in teaching music. I have worked with young students on basic guitar, bass, piano and drum skills including music interpretation, rhythmic development and music theory.
The method books I use are Hals Leonard Books 1&2, Alfreds Kids Guitar course for ages 5 & up, Mel Bay method books 1&2, Alfreds Book 1 for Chords. For the more advanced student I use the Berklee Guitar Method by William Levitz.
As an Guitar Instructor my first priority is instilling each student with a love for music and the tools to reach their goals. I also enjoy having fun while meeting their needs!
