I have been playing the piano for twelve years. I graduated from Stetson University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and from the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP) with a Masters of Music in Piano Performance in 2022. I have performed in Italy, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas, on a solo level and collaboration. I have collaborated with many wind symphonies such as the Stetson University Symphonic Band, Stetson Concert Band, UTEP Wind Symphony, UTEP Symphonic Band, and the El Paso Winds Symphony.
I have been teaching since 2017. I started off with private lessons in St. Augustine, FL, then proceeded to join the Community School of Music at Stetson University as a Student Teacher in 2017. After graduating from Stetson in 2019, I stayed and taught as a Faculty Teacher at the Community School of Music, having more students. During my tenure, I taught students from four to 85 years old. When I went to get my graduate studies, I taught private lessons online and in person. I was also a teaching assistant for the piano classes at UTEP, teaching young adults in a class setting. I have also ran our studio masterclass, where I provided students feedback on their works and ways to improve, as well leading our performance class on Fridays. I have taught both online and in person.
For my beginner students, who are younger, I start off with the Faber series in the Primer levels. After progressing through the first few levels of the series, I then start to introduce solo repertoire depending on the interests of the student. For my older students, we also go through the Faber Adult Piano Adventures book, where we learn the basics of piano along with some fun pieces. I teach more information outside of the book which is not taught until later to get ahead. No matter what age, I love to incorporate different ways of introducing material in music that you like! We do not have to stay on the traditional path of piano lessons.
Having patience is the greatest way to be successful! Whatever goal you are looking for, being patient about your progress is the most important aspect when starting out in music or pursuing a career. In a world where everything is going by so quickly, we tend to forget and appreciate some of the things happening in the background. We will set realistic goals and create mini-goals to hit those marks. Overtime, we will review our progress and see how far we have come to show that we are on the right track and doing a great job. I try to find the best in each student and what drives them to be passionate in music.
