Dear Everyone,
My name is Benny and I am a 27 year old composer and performer with 15 years of musical experience in various instruments and areas. I recieved my BA degree from Goucher College in 2014 in Music Theory/Composition and Voice Performance. I have a passion for teaching with two years of experience at Stone House Jam Academy in Bel Air MD. I would love to teach anyone who is willing to learn. My areas of teaching include guitar, bass, voice, piano, and music theory/ear training.
-Benny
My teaching experience comes from teaching the previous two years at Stone House Jam Academy in Bel Air, MD. During my time there, I taught guitar, piano, ukulele, drums, bass, and music theory/ear training. I taught everyone from the ages of 6 to 60. I am currently enrolled and taking classes at Goucher College to attain my master of arts degree in teaching so that I can become the best teacher that I can possibly be. Every student I have taught has grown as a musician in their own right.
I recommend that anyone starting to learn music begins at the age of ten simply because of finger strength and focus. I also try to ensure that they practice at a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes a day between lessons to help them reach their full potential. I stand by the "practice makes perfect" saying wholeheartedly. I give small amounts of homework after every lesson and try to create a fun environment for learning that is stress-free. I am very open-minded and know fully well that every student has his/her own needs. I will be as accommodating as possible with everyone.
I first try to establish why the student wants to learn their instrument and what artists/bands they are influenced by if any. Although I do try to establish goals for them, these goals are reasonable and attainable. It is important to me that they progress at their own pace and have fun as well. Nothing is more important to me than helping others develop a passion for music and I will use anything from Bach to Beethoven or The Beatles to Guns N'Roses to help them achieve it.
