Overview:
I am a hardworking and fun-loving teacher who loves to push students to reach boundaries they never thought possible! I recently graduated Musicians Institute Hollywood in 2018 with an Associate of Arts degree in Drum Performance. I have been performing with my band Rowdy Clast around Hollywood at local clubs trying to get recognized in the music industry. I hope to pass on some of my knowledge as a performing drummer to my students! I love to have fun, but my main focus is progress, I love to see my students get better.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience is minimal at this point in my career as I have just graduated music school and am now making a shift into the world of teaching drums. During my days in college I volunteered with a music program called SLAM! to teach music to students at TS King Middle School in Silver Lake, CA. I feel as an instructor I really gained a grasp for teaching through the SLAM! program, I also learned that I am very comfortable teaching students of all ages. I feel that volunteering to teach in college has given me the experience needed to teach as a profession.
METHODS USED
For all students I typically teach from Musicians Institute’s curriculum. This curriculum is tailored in a clear and concise form to progress chronologically from the bottom up. The books I use can help to develop performance, reading, and technique etc at levels beginner through advanced. Most kids I try to teach with additional factors to keep lessons entertaining, and for adults I try to give them as much information as possible while catering to where they are trying to get as a drummer as opposed to the overall knowledge a kid needs.
LESSON STYLE
As an instructor I focus on my students weaknesses in order to produce as much progress as possible. I strive to find out what my students are really trying to get out of drums whether it’s just for fun, to be famous, or in order to start a band. I love to cater my curriculum to students favorite genres in order to keep them interested. As a drummer myself I understand that some stuff can get boring so I try to add in different aspects to make my lessons more entertaining. My goal is to see progress and also see enjoyment and satisfaction of the student.
