Performed with several churches in Southern Maryland to help out. Helped run Open Mic night in Southern Maryland for two years. I have been teaching for 5 years and I love it!
I find my greatest joy in sharing music! I'm currently working on a Professional Jazz Guitar Certificate from the Berklee Academy of Music Online, but I have been studying as many genres as I am able to over the years. I love performing and having jam sessions with my friends, and I love meeting new musicians! I was performing in Southern Maryland but recently moved around the D.C area to begin my professional teaching career. I cannot wait to get to meet you and help you achieve your goals!
I have been teaching music for about five years now. As soon as I started teaching myself music theory concepts and sharing them with my friends, I knew that teaching was something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life! Music means a lot to me as I'm sure it does to you. I love being able to time travel through different emotions and sounds, and the guitar has allowed me to do that! One of my favorite parts of music is the people that it brings us into contact with; the people that turn into friends. I have received excellent feedback from every one of my students! If you love music and you love to learn, I'm your guy!
First and foremost, I want to know what your goals are! I have proven methods to make the fundamentals fun, and as you progress we will get deeper into music theory so that you will attain a wide array of knowledge that you didn't even know existed! I like to push my students to push themselves, practice what they are interested in and expand their musical palette! The most important thing is to have fun! We will cover years and years of advanced information at whatever pace you desire! I will teach the student how to practice in the most time-effective manner so that he or she does not have to rely on me to continue their musical quest!
The student is the most important piece of the puzzle. If the student is not happy, then practice and lessons will not be a positive interaction. My goal is to make music as fun as possible. I have done the work of teaching myself and I have the hindsight of mistakes I made along the way; slight areas of wasting time, plateaus, you name it. Therefore, I have the answers to how to avoid some of the same mistakes I made! I strive for a positive atmosphere for myself and the student. Learning music is a very painstaking process at times, but we must be uncomfortable at times to grow! Music is all about growth, sharing, conveying emotion, and challenging ourselves. My goal is always for a positive atmosphere where you can be free to make mistakes. There is no judgement; we have all been there before!
