Professional musician in the Central Florida area who is happiest when involved in making music - as a soloist, director, educator, clinician, part of an ensemble, or as an arranger. The list goes on!After completing a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute performance from Florida Southern College, her education continued at Florida State University with a Master's degree in Music Therapy. As a professional musician, she has performed on flute and handbells as a soloist and in ensembles for featured concerts, worship services and pit orchestras. She provides music for weddings and special events on a regular basis. Blanche Marie has directed adult and children's vocal and instrumental ensembles in churches throughout the state of Florida. Currently resides in Winter Park, Florida.
EXPERIENCE
As a professional musician, Blanche Marie has performed on flute and handbells as a soloist and in ensembles for featured concerts, worship services and pit orchestras. She provides music for weddings and special events on a regular basis. Blanche Marie has directed adult and children's vocal and instrumental ensembles in churches throughout the state of Florida. In the handbell community, she has led mass rings and workshops for both Area 4 and national handbell gatherings. Blanche Marie has also arranged a variety of pieces for both handbell and flute ensembles and soloists.
METHODS USED
Knowing that people learn through a variety of methods, Blanche Marie draws from several well known method books to personalize the instruction to the pupil's needs and strengths. She believes that choosing one method book for every student doesn't make sense because each student's needs are different. The method books used depend on the needs of the students and the instruments they are learning. Blanche Marie tries to incorporate duets within the lesson whenever possible to assist the student in growing from playing notes to making music.
LESSON STYLE
Blanche Marie delights in giving beginners of all ages the key to understanding music and leading them into further development as they advance and begin to discover the nuances of professional musicianship. Learning music is also about learning about yourself. Using all that you are as a person will assist you in your musical growth. She is comfortable giving instruction in the private setting as well as group classes. As a Music Therapist, she has also worked with piano students that have both mental and physical challenges.
