Bachelors of Arts in Music Education from Cleveland State University.
Overview:
I am a passionate instructor (violin teacher) who loves working with students. My main instrument is violin, and I always like music and wanting to have others to enjoy same joy that I have. I've had the experience to play the string quartets with my crew in the past. Now, I am currently teaching music subject at school and also interested in teaching violin lessons as well. I can have a lesson with student at their home or teaching through online. My favorite composers are Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff, Bach, Beethoven, and Chopin.
EXPERIENCE
I started playing violin when I was 7. I've been with Musika since 2011 (while I was in college). I have experience teaching Suzuki method (violin) from young age kids to old students. I also have been teaching Suzuki Method (K-12) strings at a local arts school and also at a Korean community center. I am currently teaching music subject at school as well. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern pop music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the violin and motivate them to practice and continue to learn.
METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I start with Essential Method Book for Strings. Once the students has progressed more, I use Suzuki Method books, and also, choose (introduce) solo pieces for recital performance. For adults, I find out what the student is interested in and find the book that fits their interest (and guide my instruction accordingly to engage them). Easy pop melodies book or other genres violin sheets will be also fun, no matter their ability level. It is important to know what the student is interested in.
LESSON STYLE
My lesson style consists of working on fingering and plucking first from Essential Method Book for Strings or the Suzuki book (for the beginning students who are children). While they (children) are practicing, I encourage/ recommend them to memorize the songs if they can. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I also try to find out what inspires the student. That way, I know their wants and needs. I occasionally try to use the Kodaly method when students wish to focus on melody and folk playing.
