I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love for music. I believe in having fun while learning, and building my lessons around what the students are interested in when teaching the fundamentals of playing. I have been professionally performing since 2008, from major venues to private events. I have learned not only the ins and outs of playing a guitar, but also how to really bring a song to life and connect with an audience. I'm looking forward to teaching you how to play guitar as well as how to bring a song to life emotionally. After all, music is more then just playing an instrument, it's the universal language that can speak to anyone with the right song and the right emotion put into it.
I've learn a lot from touring and being a professional musician, but I also gained a ton of knowledge from several highly skilled Berklee professors. With certifications in both Guitar Specialization and Music Theory, the methods and skills I teach will have most beginners playing songs and understanding how music theory works in no time!! I have been teaching since 2016 and currently have several students who have been taking lessons with me for years. I will guarantee that you will always move forward and learn something new. Looking forward to working with you and hearing you become an AWESOME guitar player. We'll have you playing music and impressing your friends and family in no time!!
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I'm looking forward to working with you, teaching you, not only how to play guitar, but how to discover your love for music.
Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I know from experience that everyone learns differently, so what worked for one student may not work for another. This is why it is important to me, that we keep things fun and fresh each lesson!!
