Overview:
Ive been playing Clarinet for 12 years, and in that time Ive been teaching for 6 years. In Florida I attended University of North Florida where I had the opportunity to perform virtuosic concertos with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Ocala Symphony Orchestra, and the University of North Florida Orchestra and Band. I was recently on adjunct faculty at New York University during my Masters Degree. Now I have a growing studio here in New York City and Im also freelancing around town. My goal is to become a recording and touring artist as well as a Doctor of Music Performance.
EXPERIENCE
I have always been eager to invest my knowledge of music into anyone with a keen interest. I began teaching in my under grad at UNF. I went back to the middle school I attended, LaVilla School of the Arts, and asked to host a master class. After being granted permission I taught a class of about 10 students for an hour, and then after the class I passed out my business cards so they could contact me. Luckily, I got 4 students and after that the numbers kept growing as I was making my way around town. It was a pleasure meeting all of the students at various levels of playing. I was honored to coach some of them for the annual audition for All-State in which some students found great success. I always encourage my students to push their buttons and leave their comfort zone!

LESSON STYLE
My primary instrument is Clarinet but there are a lot of basic things that could be used universally across all genres and instruments. I always stress the importance of foundation on and off the instrument. In addition to understanding the assembly of the Clarinet, breathe support, and embouchure training, I encourage students to have a basic knowledge of theory as we will begin to learn notes, rhythm, and scales. Its crucial that theory and the foundation of how to play the instrument go hand in hand when learning clarinet. As the student gets comfortable with the clarinet and theory we can explore more genres and techniques.
