I’ve held a studio of 35-40 students for the past decade and have had some of my students go onto pursue professional degrees in music at top conservatories around the country and perform for television and studio recordings. I teach students of all ages as young as four. I specialize in teaching students as young as 4 to reach a very high level of skill and artistry with just a few years of lessons. The secret to this outcome is setting up an environment that is conducive to growth and learning. This means not just at the violin studio but also at home. Parents, teachers and students work together to make this happen successfully.

With consistent practice and lessons I’ve had success with having some of my youngest students start with Mozarts twinkle little star and in 2-3 years play at a very high level with skill, artistry and reading abilities in Suzuki books 4/5 Vivaldi Concertos. Students start off with a box violin to focus on posture and ear training right away. Once some of the fine motor skills are established, we transfer these skills directly to the violin, and begin create sound on the instrument. One not at a time is focused on each week with a series of exercises and short press that come together to create our first complete piece. My methods are Suzuki informed and I place a high priority on technical skill as well as ear training. Reading is introduced after a solid foundation is established with ear training, posture, tone and intonation.
