Studied at Grambling University, Piano Performance Degree, Recording Connection Audio Institute, Audio and Recording Engineering
I am a very enthusiastic individual who loves working with students and sharing my love and passion of music. In 2013, I graduated from the Recording Connections Audio Institute with a Degree in Audio and Recording Engineering. As a musician, audio engineer, consultant, and entreprenuer, I have had the opportunity to work on many platforms across the United States. My experience includes creating successful music and entertainment content within a wide variety of music genres, as well as composing for film, animation and other visual media.
My teaching experience spans over the course of the past 5 years, as I began teaching when I was in college, and since then have branched out to teaching students of all ages in both my recording studio and church. I encourage students to practice on a regular basis, especially with the younger students, as it aids in the student's progress, growth and passion for playing the piano. My job is to ensure that the lesson is an experience that is rewarding, memorable and most of all, fun. As students progress, I encourage students to "personalize" the fundamentals learned by composing their own original work. This provides the student, not only a sense of accomplishment, but a tangible way to recognize their progress and growth, as well as a way to stay motivated to learn.
For all students, I like to begin teaching using the Alfred Piano Method Books. These series provide site reading and music theory for all levels of experience and ages. Depending on each students progress and grasp of the fundamentals, as well as the more advanced students, I will tailor the lessons based on each individual's interest, such as learning various styles of music.
My teaching style is simple; each student is an individual and unique, therefore everyone progresses at their own pace. I take pride in getting to know each of my students, that way I can tailor my instruction to fit their needs.
