Hi! I'm an electronic music producer specializing in melodic dubstep and drum & bass. I started playing on the piano when I was 7, focusing mainly on classical and pop songs. I always had a knack to coming up with my own melodies and that encouraged me to be a music producer. I took piano studies in Malaysia under the ABRSM exam board for 8 years and would love to translate what I've learned to you! I love working with students and collaborators; be it teaching, learning or even coming up with original pieces.
EXPERIENCE
In high school, I would have the occasional friend or two asking me to teach them how to play certain songs. "River Flows In You" is a popular one that I've successfully taught many people. This made me realize my inner passion for teaching, I proceeded to teach a few beginners as well as intermediate students for a year before I went back to college. I also taught a few students on music production basics; this included scales, chords, production techniques as well as basic mixing and mastering. I've taken some time to prepare some proper teaching material and now I'm ready to start anew!
METHODS USED
I start with the fundamentals (Proper stance and positioning, identifying individual keys, basic scales etc.). Then, I would typically introduce songs appropriate to the student's skill level. Over time, i'll add more scales and different techniques when I feel that they're ready to advance. I prefer teaching using classical and pop music pieces. If you've had prior musical experience, I would survey you based on what you already know and we can pick up from there. Communication is key when it comes to the learning process, I monitor each lesson very closely and give you feedback on every lesson.
LESSON STYLE
The most important thing to me when you're learning is that you're enjoying yourself. Coming to piano lessons shouldn't feel like a chore; I try my best to tailor lessons to student's interests. I pay very close attention to detail when it comes to improvement and I'd very much like every student to make progress! It's also important to me that students make progress at their own pace, so I like to set realistic goals based on the rate that they excel. I try my best to be accommodative so if you have any requests do let me know!
