Overview:
I first picked up the guitar at the age of 10 and took lessons from instructors for the first few years. In High School I became much more passionate about music, and began self teaching myself how to play songs and solo. By my Sophomore year I began playing with bands, and that snowballed throughout high school. I self taught myself much of the foundation of music theory, and a few years later studied under a Los Angeles based teacher who helped me connect all the dots and really take my playing to another level. I continued my studies with Berklee online courses on jazz improvisation, music theory, songwriting, and recording. My musical background includes playing in many different groups over the years; I'm fluent in rock, alternative, blues, metal, singer songwriter, and jazz/fusion styles. I've toured the USA and performed from small clubs to huge venues (House of Blues, Whisky A Go Go, Fairgrounds, Camp Pendleton sponsored events, etc.), I've recorded on many records, and have made my living solely playing music for about 6 years now; I can offer advice/my experiences to any advanced students looking to pursue music as more than a hobby. I am available for in home lessons (students home), or I can accommodate teaching from my home studio.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching guitar lessons for 8 years, both our of a storefront and in home lessons. I began with a couple students 1 day a week, and eventually grew my clientele to 35-40 students per week. I have experience and appreciate working with children, teenagers, and adults. They all offer a different challenging and rewarding experiences as an instructor. Helping children develop a passion for music is one of the most rewarding experiences I can think of. Many of my students have eventually developed to the point of performing with me at some of my various performances which is just incredible!
METHODS USED
Typically I break my lessons into two parts; half dedicated to learning songs, and the other half dedicated to learning chords. For songs I'll start out with very basic melody songs (beginners), eventually working in power chords and tackling classic rock favorites, and finally incorporating chords/barre chords/soloing. If the student is interested in playing a particular style of music my goal is to eventually focus on that style in our lessons. For chords we will work through some books that I've had great past success with in my lessons. It's a great way to start off with just 2 or 3 chords, and slowly add more chords and strumming patterns as we progress through the book. As we learn more chords, we eventually start incorporating these chords into our songs as well. For advanced students I sometimes focus more heavily on one particular aspect of a students playing if they desire that (for example; if the student is already proficient in rhythm we may move directly to soloing and music theory). *I do not force my students to learn notation as I've found it can be very discouraging (especially for children), but I can incorporate this into the lesson if it's desired by the parent or student.
LESSON STYLE
My general approach to teaching is to mold my lesson plan around the students needs and wants, and it's extremely important that our lessons are fun for the student! This is especially true for children; if playing an instrument becomes "work"/"homework" they will probably lose interest pretty quickly. It's important to try to avoid that mindset, and keep it fun so that the student WANTS to pick up their instrument and play everyday. I've found selecting songs the student desires to learn helps tremendously with this. Also giving a student weekly goals, and having the student play whatever we worked on the week before at the start of every lesson ensures that the student is progressing.

I cant say enough about Brennan. My Son Caden started taking lessons from him 3 years ago...when he came home after the first lesson playing Happy Birthday he was hooked...when he came home after the second lesson playing "Smoke on the Water" I was hooked!...Each lesson after that he came home with a different song he had learned mostly classic rock like "Fortunate Son, "Iron Man" "Sunshine of Your Love", "Crazy Love" "The Ocean" and lots more! I have to say this must have been somewhat of a challenge for Brennan as Caden is left handed! After 3 months Caden was playing in his first recital with Brennan right there next to him... a few months after that he joined a rock band program and Brennan was right there for lessons making sure he knew every song! Only a year after he started taking lessons with Brennan Caden got the nerve to do open mics..and it all just fast forwarded from there! Music is awesome , Brennan is by far the best, most patient teacher! And he doesn't just sit inn the studio and teach all day he actually is out doing what he loves and thats performing on stage ! And a really cool thing about Brennan is all the kids he teaches go watch him perform...and when they do they undoubtedly will get pulled up on stage to perform a song right next to him! Love this guy! Go see him!

Brennan has been my guitar instructor for 2+ years. I'm in my mid 50's and although I have had guitars in my possession for many years, all I really ever did was noodle around with online tab until I met Brennan. Since my time with him he has given me a good foundation of music theory, common chord progressions for blues/rock, and competency navigating the fretboard. Brennan's students are diverse starting with the very young through old guys like me and he seems to do very well with all of them. It is not uncommon for local area guitarists that play the local gigs to spend some time with Brennan to up their skills. About a year and a half ago I started playing with some buddies I've known for a long time who have played music since high school and played in bands their whole life. They are absolutely amazed how far I've progressed in a short period of time and now I play rhythm guitar and some vocals for them at some local gigs. The reason I've been able to progress is in large part due to Brennan's instruction.

My grandson has been taking guitar lessons from Brennan for 4 years. Brennan is the best teacher you'll ever find. He really cares about his students. My grandson has learned so much about Guitar, friendship and preforming and so much more from Brennan. If your an adult or child you can't find a better teacher.

Brennan has given me guitar lessons for about three years now and as a guitar player learning in my early 40s, he's been excellent to work with. One thing I like about about him is the fact that he's extremely patient and adjusts his style of teaching based on the learning style of the student. He's excellent at teaching blues, classic rock, and heavy-metal. My first year, he gave me a great foundation of connecting the fretboard with the concepts of guitar theory. Overall, he gave me a great deal of confidence so that I could play with my friends and jam on a regular basis. I would recommend Brennan to any guitars young or old who wants to learn and have fun.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
