I'm passionate about teaching and getting my students excited about learning and progressing with their instrument. I focus on a personalized curriculum, not a "one size fits all" approach. I played guitar professionally for over 10 years in California - writing, performing and touring the original music club circuit from L.A. to Sacramento including dates at the famous Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles and The Fillmore in San Francisco. I've done extensive studio work and worked with a band based out of Sacramento the produced a video for MTV (see YouTube video above).
My focus is always on the individual student and their music interests and goals. I do begin with foundational skills, music theory that is applicable to the knowledge level of my students, and technique building. However, I want my students to start to play songs as soon as possible and we only work on songs that THEY choose - I do not force students to learn songs that I select or songs that a book tells them to. My teaching style is all about sound fundamentals and getting to work on proficiency with 1st position open chords. Next steps (or steps for more advanced students) are pentatonic scales and barre chords. Comping and soloing skills are also a major focus for more advanced students.
My method/my style is as mentioned above: My focus is always on the individual student, their music interests and goals AND having a BLAST! My "style" is centered around enjoyment and realistic accomplishments, so the atmosphere is REWARDING!
