I am self taught as a musician but I have studied music and music theory since 1992. I do, however, hold an AA in Behavioral Science, a BS in Finance, and an MS in Busines Management.
Overview:
I am a professional musician and instructor that lives and works in Las Vegas, NV. I play live with shows and bands in a variety of genres and styles all throughout Las Vegas, and the country. I have been on several internationally released recordings, both as an original artist and a studio musician, many of these recordings I was the primary songwriter on. I am a voting member of the Grammy committee. I began playing professionally in 1994, when I was just 14, and have been teaching since 1996.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching since 1996, beginning as a teenager, teaching out of my house. From 2000-2002, I taught at Southern California's "Sounds of Music" music store, at one point having over 50 weekly students spread over 4 days. From 2002-2004 I taught at Pete's Music, also in Southern California. After taking a few years away from teaching I began giving mobile lessons in 2007, and taught all throughout Southern California. Currently I focus on giving lessons online, as well as in my own studio.
METHODS USED
My teaching method is entirely student driven. Every student has different goals and different styles of learning. Because of this, the "cookie-cutter" approach many teachers take are ineffective. I take the time during the first lesson to ask the student what their short and long term goals are with their instrument, and from there I can start laying out a lesson plan. As I have more lessons with the student, I can observe their learning style and adjust my teaching approach accordingly.
